Our starting recommendations
We would start with the Ninja comparison for container-based meal prep: portable Crispi for a removable pod, Pro for a countertop setup with a larger included bowl and adjustable controls. This is a feature-based recommendation, not a finding that either cooks better than its competitors.
Choose a format before a brand. Cuisinart's AFC-4 is the option here for someone who wants a pull-out basket. Fritaire is worth a look if you want rotating accessories and can accommodate its hot lid. For the smaller or less documented alternatives below, resolve the model and material questions before treating a lower price as a better buy.

Choosing a small glass air fryer
Measure the counter, storage shelf, and handling space before comparing quart labels. Allow the clearances specified in the manual; the appliance's listed dimensions do not include all the room needed to operate it.
- For removable-pod storage, compare the portable Ninja with the space needed for its bowls and lids. Putting the pod away does not make those accessories disappear.
- For small batches, consider Elite Gourmet EAF2305, but resolve its 2.3/2.4-quart labeling discrepancy. A smaller bowl may mean cooking the main and side separately. Check the manufacturer's listing.
- For a drawer, allow room in front to pull it out and set it down. For a lift-off lid, plan a suitable resting place beside the appliance.
For reference, NutriChef lists NCAF539TB at 14.0 × 11.6 × 11.1 inches, L × W × H. The “compact” label alone would not tell you that footprint. Published dimensions. See the Ninja dimensions and Fritaire handling notes for the other formats.
Glass bowls and coatings are separate questions
A glass vessel can still contain a coated crisper plate. Cuisinart describes a PFAS-free ceramic nonstick plate for AFC-4; Elite Gourmet describes a ceramic-coated Ceralast rack. These are manufacturer claims about components, not independent testing of the whole appliance. Cuisinart components / Elite Gourmet components.
NutriChef's NCAF539TB page describes a transparent basket and nonstick surface, but its construction list names stainless steel, ABS, and PP without resolving the bowl material. We include it as an alternative to investigate, not as a verified coating-free glass recommendation. Ask the manufacturer for the exact food-contact materials. NutriChef material listing.
We have not tested chemical composition or made a health assessment of these appliances. If a particular substance is your concern, ask about the bowl, rack, lid, seals, and other food-contact parts rather than relying on “non-toxic” in a product title.
Cleaning and replacement parts can decide the purchase
Read the care instructions before paying for a self-cleaning feature. Fritaire's cycle still leaves emptying and rinsing to you, and its FAQ excludes the glass bowl from the dishwasher. Its spit has a 1.5-pound load limit, so our review explains why bowl capacity cannot be used as a rotisserie limit.
For the Ninja systems, budget for any additional containers you need and verify model compatibility. A replacement bowl that is listed today may not remain in stock. For each shortlist candidate, check the warranty for your seller and country, return shipping terms, and how to order a replacement bowl or rack.

Which should I compare first?
Start with the format: removable pod, drawer, or lift-off lid. Then compare the Ninja models, Cuisinart AFC-4, or Fritaire using the table above. We have not established a best-performing model through testing.
Does more capacity mean more food in one batch?
Volume alone cannot answer that. The rack area, food shape, and spacing needed for cooking matter. We leave usable cooking area unknown where we have not measured it.
Is a glass air fryer coating-free?
Not necessarily. Check the rack or crisper plate as well as the bowl. Some models combine glass with ceramic nonstick components, and some listings do not specify all materials.
